Darwin had a lot of kids (ten, three dying young, Charlie the last in 1858 of scarlet fever aged just two). Darwin also worked at home for most of his life. So he was a stay-at-home dad! I have found that coordinating three sons and getting them all to their various commitments to be a struggle, I can’t imagine having seven more…. I know that Emma probably did most of the work and that they had servants but part of me likes to think of Charles juggling drop-offs and pick-ups. In the modern world he would certainly have to have been logistically savvy!
